Gerlene G. Mills

Gerlene G. Mills, 73, of Pocahontas, VA, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Westwood Center in Bluefield, VA.   Born on December 29, 1942 in WV, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Mary Annie Matthews Grose. She had been a lifelong resident of the Abbs Valley area and was a homemaker. She was of the Methodist faith.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore R. Mills, Jr.; a brother, Arnold Grose; and a sister, Shirley Mitchem.   Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Williams of Pocahontas, VA, Sarah Miles and Mike of Pinnacle, NC, and Helen Mills of Pocahontas, VA; sons, Jeremiah Mills and Karen of Tobaccoville, NC, and Nathan Mills and Melaine of Springville, VA; 8 grandchildren; sister, Juanita Brewster of Bland, VA; and brothers, Roger Grose of Boissevain, VA, Eddie Grose of Abbs Valley, VA, and Jerry Grose of Boissevain, VA. One aunt, Willie Farmer of Abbs Valley, VA.   Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 2:30 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.   Friends may call on Friday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.   Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
