Curtis Michael Bane

Curtis Michael Bane (Mike), age 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2016, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.  He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.  Mike was born March 20, 1950, in Bluefield, WV, to the late Daniel Carr and Nannie Lou Bane (Slade).  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Edward M Clarke, who was like a father to him. After graduating First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach, VA, Mike spent the majority of his professional career at a warehouse manager at Tri-State Electric Supply in Columbia, Maryland.  Mike was passionate about helping his community and joined the Masonic Lodge AF & AM, in Mt. Airy, MD.  Mike is a lifetime member Kiwanis Club Int’l, while in Maryland he served two terms as President.  Upon returning to Bluefield in 2002, he joined Harman Masonic Lodge 222 AF & AM, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons Chapter 28, and Graham Commandery No. 22. Mike is survived by his sister, Madeline Bane Clarke of Bluefield, WV; his brother, Samuel Horton Bane, of Texas; and his nephew, Daniel Carr Clarke (Tamara) of Bay City, MI. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Genesis HealthCare Hilltop Center in Hilltop, WV for their outstanding care. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.  Friends may visit from 5:00 pm until time of his service at 7:00 p.m.  Interment be held Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Grandview Memory Gardens.  Rev. Steve Aker will be officiating the services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
