Lois Dodson Matney Hormell

Lois Dodson Matney Hormell, 88, formerly of Welch, West Virginia, passed away November 26, 2016, at the Village Green Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Lois was born September 29, 1928, in Ferrum, Virginia, to the late Buster & Gladys Dodson. She was a graduate of Welch High School and was married to the late Chester M. Matney of Welch. They made their home on Stewart Street, where they raised their three daughters.  She was an active member of Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church and was employed for several years as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant.  In 2001, Lois married Ronald R. Hormell, moved to Morgantown West Virginia and subsequently, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Left to cherish her memory are her bother Marvin L. Dodson of Courtland, Virginia, her daughters, Judy M. Smith of Morgantown, West Virginia, Jeanne M. Westfall of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Jayne M. Hall of Remington, Virginia, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 03, 2016, at the Craven-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia with the Reverend Chuck Hammond officiating.  Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Bluefield, Virginia. Where friends and family will serve as pallbearers Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday, December 03, 2016.
