Elizabeth Dale Gregory

May 26, 1942 — November 20, 2016

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." – Revelation 21:4   Elizabeth Dale Gregory, born May 26, 1942, at her great grandmother's home in Bluefield, WV, was the daughter of Myrtle Holt and Charlie Jack Gregory. Libby resided in Bluefield, WV her entire life. Libby was of the Baptist faith and had a strong relationship with God. She was an avid country music fan and loved Conway Twitty. Even though she never married or had children of her own, she was a wonderful mother to her brother's children. When she was in her twenties, she stepped up and helped feed, clothe and care for four children, ranging in ages from 8 months old to 4 years old, who had lost their own mother. She spent her life helping others and she will be rewarded in heaven for her kindness here on earth. She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Holt Pennington; her step father, Charles Okey Pennington; her brother Charles Henry Gregory, her sister in law,  Diana Dinger Gregory; her nephew Richard Allen Gregory; her aunts, Stella Compton,  Mamie Smith and Betty Hambrick. Survivors include her aunt, Ruby Compton of Nemours; the children she treated as her own, Rebecca Gregory of Bluefield; Charles Lane Gregory of Lindside; and Tammy Tabor of Bluefield. She is also survived by her sister in law, Alice Gregory and her niece Donna Edwards both of Bluefield. She leaves behind many great nieces and nephews who all loved her and have fond memories of the times they spent with her. Her passing leaves an empty place in our hearts that no one will ever fill. Her smile, her laughter, and her love will be with us forever.   Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Gary Pennington and Rev. Don Compton officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.   Friends may call on Friday from 12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home.   Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
