Eugene Garland Lavender

  Eugene Garland Lavender, age 88, of Bramwell Hill Road, Bramwell, WV died on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.   Born on June 14, 1928, in Upland, WV, he was a son of the late Albert E. and Reytha Hutton Lavender. He had lived in Bramwell for the past 65 years and was a member of the Bramwell Wesleyan Church. He was also a member of the Bramwell Kiwanis Club and the Pinnacle Rock Foundation. He was a retired supervisor of Consolidated Coal Company. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Helen Cook Lavender; 2 brothers and 6 sisters.   Survivors include:   Son: Randy Lavender and wife Sue of Charlotte, NC   Daughter: Sandy Goins and husband Dean of Bramwell, WV   Brother: Larry Lavender and wife Kathy of California   Grandson: Brandon Goins   Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Gary Conklin officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will be performing full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Cook, Darrell Cook, Dale Goins, Richard Bailey, Ben Meadows, Everette Lane and honorary pallbearers, Joe Kowaleski, David Cook and Junior Miller. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
