Howard Russell Morris, 61, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born on March 26, 1955 in Bluefield, he was a son of Vera Louise Grose Morris of Rocky Gap, VA and the late Howard Luther Morris. He had been a resident of Bluefield for most of his life and was a former owner of a coal mine in McDowell County. He was a very giving and generous person and had accepted the Lord as his savior. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Jeanne Bowman Morris of the home, a son, Sean Morris of the home; two daughters, Tonia Morris of Princeton and Kayla Morris of Bluefield; brothers, Jerry Morris and Gwen on Falls Mills, VA, Luther Morris and Carolyn of Bluewell, Randall Morris of Bluewell and Frank Morris and Joan of Glenwood; and a sister, Ethel Thorne and Robert of Lerona, WV. And a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Bailey family Cemetery on Browning Lambert Mountain in Rock with Brother Sherman Duncan officiating. Burial will follow with Frank Morris, Sean Morris, Barry Bowman, Luther Morris, Robert Thorne and John Thorne will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Murphy, Brett Wall, Chad Harman, Chase Broyles. Friends may call on Saturday from 1:00-2:30 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.
