Vera Faye Hale

Vera “Faye” Hale of Bluewell, 88, of Bluewell, formerly of Martinsville, Virginia passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Maples Nursing Home in Bluefield. Born on April 17, 1928 in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Carl D. and Hazel Shaffer. She was a member of Bluewell United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist women, and the Loyalette Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Bramwell order of the Eastern Star Chapter #158. She loved camping and NASCAR races. She was preceded in death by her husband G. W. Hale Jr. in 2009; and brothers, Ted Shaffer, Carl Jr. , Dallas Shaffer, and Jerry Shaffer. Survivors include her sisters, Barbara Sells of Bluewell and Betty Thomas of Morgantown; and a son, Jimmy Hale of Collinsville, VA. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Steve Rector officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Friends may call on Saturday one hour prior to services, from 10:00-11:00AM, at the funeral home.
