Arlene Kathleen Thompson

Arlene Kathleen Thompson, 90, of Rock, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at her home. Born on October 25, 1925 in Giatto, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Emma Lou Pennington. She lived as a very strong willed independent mother of three sons who she cherished dearly. She will be missed by all of her family and many lifelong friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert R. Thompson and her first born son, Darrell Pennington. She is survived by her two sons, Donald Pennington and wife Rita of Rock and Freddy Pennington of Sandlick; sister, Florabelle Jennings of Montcalm; nine grandchildren, Michael Pennington and wife of Peterstown, Joseph Pennington and wife of Abingdon, VA, Sherri Hoge and husband Todd of Christiansburg, VA, Junior Pennington of Rock, Tammy Roles and husband Mike of Rock, Bryan Pennington of Rock, Michelle Howard and husband Mike of Montcalm, Mickey Pennington and wife Kristi of Princeton, Amanda Blankenship and husband Josh of Bluewell; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. David Kirby and Rev. David Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
