Risa Lou Furches, 61, of Pearl Street, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born on October 20, 1954 in Bluefield, she was a daughter of Richard Holcomb and the late Rosaline Robins Holcomb. She had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and formerly working in the nursing and medical field at Bluefield Sanitarium, Bluefield Community and for several area doctors. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bluefield, VA. She loved her husband of 45 years, her girls and music. Her grandchildren were her world. She also had a special place in her heart for her little dog, Taco.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kelsey Faith Franklin.
Survivors include her high school sweetheart, husband, Terry Furches of the home; father, Richard Holcomb of Bluefield; daughters, Terrisa Smothers and husband Charlie, III of Springville, VA, Sherry Franklin of Bluefield, and Erin Furches of Princeton; grandchildren, Jonathan Jennings, II, Harley Jennings, Kasey Franklin, Chelsey Franklin, Logan Krauss, Gabriel Lambert, and Leah Lambert; brothers, Richard “Rick” Holcomb, Jr. and wife Marilyn of TX, and Russell “Rusty” Holcomb and wife Rita of Rocky Gap, VA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Bishop David Boone officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
