James "Jim" Henry Russell

James “Jim” Henry Russell, 70 of Hurricane Ridge Road Bluefield, WV formerly of Keystone, WV passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at his residence. Jim was born on October 09, 1945 in Keystone, WV to the late Henry Allen and Rady Easter Lowe Russell. Jim had been a resident of Bluefield, WV for the past 21 years and was a member of Welch Church of God. Jim was very active in the community serving in many rolls. He was the former Fire Chief of Keystone Volunteer Fire Department, Former Keystone city council member, former vice president of the rotary club and was a Boy Scout leader. He also enjoyed teaching the Adult bible school at church and playing Santa Claus for people in the community as well as his family and friends. Jim and his wife Iris were the former owners of Jim’s Convenience Store in Keystone, WV. He was also a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one sister Geraldine Collier. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years Iris Bailey Russell of the home; three daughters Jeanie Bailey of Thomasville, NC; Betty Kephart and husband Kenneth of Omaha, NE and Ericka Farnsworth and husband Bill of Omaha, NE. One brother Virgil Lowe and wife Linda of Roswell, GA and one sister Lois Hart and husband Kenneth of Spring, TX. Jim is also survived by his four grandchildren James “Jimmy” Proffitt and wife Crystal, Kelly Proffitt, Amanda Meyer and husband Mitch, and Jessica McPeake. Four great grandchildren Braxton, Jacie, Kainin and Brielle. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 06, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Timothy Akers officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The Russell family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, September 06, 2016 at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
