Denver Dale Walker

Denver Dale Walker, 76, of Springfield, TN, passed away on August 22, 2016 at his son’s home. Born on July 29, 1940 in Jenkinjones, he was a son of the late John Ivory and Della Lockey Walker. He lived in Anawalt before moving to Springfield, TN. He was employed by US Steel for 33 years as a coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA. He was a longtime member of the Longpoint Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. After moving to Springfield, TN, in 2007, he became a member of South Haven Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Juanita Walker, grandson, Nicholas Dale Walker, brothers, June and Raymond Walker, and a brother in law, Harvey McCroskey. Left to cherish his memories are his sons and their families, Chris, Sherry, Jason, Jacob nad fiancé Megan of Springfield, TN; and Rodney, Creatha, Justin, Emily, McCoy and Kellie Jo Walker of Denver, NC; Brian, Tracie, Maddux and Bruxton of Denver, NC; sisters, Opal and husband Mike White of Pageton, Ruby McCroskey of Rocky Gap, VA; sister in law, MaryAnn Walker of Ripley; brother in law, Jack Johnson and wife Irene of Sevierville, TN. Also surviving are his half-brothers and their families, Frankie and wife Shirley Walker of West Jefferson, NC, Gail and wife Geneva walker of West Jefferson, NC, Wayne and wife Mae Farmer of Itman, WV Raymond and wife Wilma Farmer of Michigan. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 7:30 at the Longpoint Missionary Baptist Church in Spencer’s Curve, Anawalt with Rev. Donnie Farmer officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 5:30-7:30 at the church. Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:30 PM at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where sons and grandsons, Chris, Jason, Jacob, Rod, Justin, Brian, Maddux and Braxtun will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell at 2:00PM. Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
