Sam White, Jr.

Sam White, Jr., 62, of Brushfork Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on August 11, 2016 at his home from a long illness of cancer. Born on February 8, 1954 in Welch, he was a son of Dorothy Mullins White of the home and the late Sam White, Sr. He was a heavy equipment operator and served in the US Army from 1972-1974. He loved fishing with his best friend, James (Boo) Thomas. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Sam White, III. He leaves behind his daughter, who was his best friend, Chasity White and fiancé Nicholas Heaton of Bluefield, his only grandson who was his life, Jonah Tibbs; a brother, Dallas White and wife Teresa of Bramwell; and sisters, Phyllis Thomas and husband James of Bluefield, Freda Bolen and Tommy Tucker of King, NC, Joyce Houk and husband Dewayne of Brushfork and also where Sam made his home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Dewayne Houk officiating. Burial will follow at the Hill Top Family Cemetery in Bramwell where Jeremy Davis, Rnady Houk, Scottie White, Donald (Bird) White, Justin D. Houk and Neko Heaton will serve as pallbearers.
