Robert Steve Bennett

Robert (Steve) Bennett of Brown Summit, NC formerly of Bluefield, WV passed away at his home Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Steve was born in Beckley WV to the late James R. Bennett Sr. and Betty Jo Bragg Bennett Gilley. He grew up in Bluefield WV Steve was a 1973 graduate of Bluefield High School. He was employed by Tabors Machinery and Pemco Corp before moving to North Carolina. He was employed by Jenkins Inc until his retirement. He was dedicated and loved his little Funny Farm of animals. Steve is survived by His wife of 41 years Carolyn Bennett of the Home. His daughter Velvet Lynn Green. Brother Dennis Bennett and wife Rita. Sister Margie Boothe and husband Craig. Grandsons Robert Dean Allison and Jacob Lee Allison. Aunt Pat Tolliver. Aunt and Uncle Arland and Yolonda Bragg. Also survived by Nieces Angel Hedges and Kristie Whitfield. And a host other relatives. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluefield, WV where Robbie Allison, Jody Allison, Lucas Fox and Jason Hudson will be serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, July 21, 2016 one hour prior to the funeral services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
