Jerry Wayne Stephenson, Jr., 32, of Huntington, WV was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on April 12, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital after a recent decline in health. Jerry was born in Princeton, WV on July 26, 1983 to the late Kathy Hazlewood and Jerry Stephenson, Sr. Jerry acknowledged his need for Jesus Christ and confessed the Lord as his Savior while being surrounded by his brothers and sisters in Christ from Mud River Baptist Church on February 12, 2016. It was a privilege and joy to know Jerry. His love for the Lord and for his family was richly displayed. He was a genuinely caring and compassionate man, a doting father. In December 2015, illness made his life challenging; however, Jerry conquered limitations with strength that could only come from above. Jerry had an extraordinary ability to convey thoughts and feelings through music. Family and friends can attest to his love of music and playing guitar. In addition to music, Jerry had a gift of humor and wit. He could put a smile on your face and keep you laughing. His spirit was so light it is no amazement his heavenly wings were gained at such a young age. He is survived by his father Jerry Stephenson Sr.; twin brother Gary Stephenson of Huntington, WV; sister Rebecca Blankenship of Rogersville, TN; four children he dearly loved, Dawson, 8; Addison, 4; Madeline, 19 months; Easton, 4 months; and mothers of his children, Brittany Tignor and Nikki Lane. Jerry received fantastic care from the SICU nursing staff at CHH. Gratitude is also expressed for the support and encouragement of close brothers in Christ: Chad Bailey, TJ Zawodniak and Pastor Lee Dean. A loving primary care physician Dr. Ashley Zawodniak, who was by his side until his final moments. Words can’t express our appreciation for the physical and spiritual care provided for Jerry and our family. A celebration of Jerry’s life and legacy will take place at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV on Monday April 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Lee Dean officiating the service. Burial will follow at Elgood Cemetery in Elgood, West Virginia. Where friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Friends and relatives are welcomed at 12:00 p.m. until the time of Jerry's service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
