Daniel T. Snapp, age 81, of 212 Duhring Avenue, Bramwell, WV, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, at his residence. Daniel, or Dan as he was known, was born on September 7, 1934, in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late John R. and Mary C. Snapp of Pinnacle Rock, WV. He was a graduate of Bramwell High School and Concord College, earning a degree in accounting. He was a long time resident of the Bluefield area, and was a member of the Episcopal Church. Dan will be remembered as a kind-hearted, generous, and honorable man who cared deeply about his family as well as those friends who were fortunate to have known him. He was an adoring and dedicated husband, and a wonderful father and role model to his three sons. Dan, along with his wife Arnolene, lived, worked and raised their family in the Richlands, VA area. He spent his career working in banking and accounting and eventually retired from a division of the Ingersoll-Rand Corporation, formerly known as S&S Machinery in Claypool Hill, VA, where he was the company’s comptroller. He was also known as a hard working professional and dedicated employee to those he worked with. Dan made many long lasting friendships with his colleagues and acquaintances over the span of his career. He fondly remembered his times with his friends on the golf outings and social events. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Arnolene, by shopping for antiques, collecting cars, and enjoying his quiet and peaceful residence in Bramwell. Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Arnolene (Hicks) Snapp, in 2009. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, John “Jack” Snapp. Dan is survived by his sister, Dorothy Norwaish, of Mishawaka, IN, sons, Randy and wife Debbie Snapp of Bramwell, WV, Keith and wife Alisa Simmons-Snapp of Atlanta, GA, and Gregory and wife Shawn Snapp of Woodstock, GA. Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive him. Also surviving are the special caregivers at Gentiva Health Services and the Hospice Compassus Company for providing such caring nurses, aides, and other staff members that greatly helped with our dad’s home care needs as well as numerous members of the community. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV. Friends and family will be welcomed at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral immediately to follow at 2:00 p.m. Father Russ Hatfield will be officiating. Entombment will follow the services at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association are appreciated.
