James H. Blevins, 81, of Rock Road, Bluefield, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Princeton Community Hospital after a battle with dementia.
Born on October 4, 1934 at Rock, he was a son of the late Charles and Edna Johnson Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Blevins Pickett.
James served honorably in the US Army in Korea and was a member of the American Legion Black Rock post 3112. He was retired from CONSOL Coal where he was employed as a tipple foreman for 28 years. James was a member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge #137 where he served as Master for 16 years. He served two terms as District Deputy Grand Master of the 16th Masonic District. James was a 32 degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rites, Beni-Kedem, Bluefield Shrine York Rites, and Royal Arch Mason. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He loved bowling and was a member of the Senior Bowling League at Mountaineer Bowling Lanes. James was a quiet and gentle man who loved helping others. He served with the Montcalm Community Christmas for over 40 years and was a member of the Mt. Grove Community Church. He was a loving husband father, brother and friend to many and will be missed.

Aunt: Pearl Johnson Fleanor of Blountville, TN
A host of special nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Wayne Saunders and Minister Jack Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where masonic rites will be performed by the Bailey Masonic Lodge #137 and will also serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
