Harry Kenneth Estes

On Thursday, January 21, 2016, our precious husband and father, Harry Kenneth Estes of Littlesburg Road, Bluefield, was called home by his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family at Princeton Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 9, 1934, he was the son of Doran Blane Estes and Ethel Estes. Kenneth was veteran of the United States Army and resided in Dublin, Virginia prior to moving to Bluefield, West Virginia in 1961 and was a graduate of Radford High School, class of 1953. Kenneth worked a the United Piece and Dye Works before beginning Estes Construction Company which he ran with his son and best friend, Heath Estes. He was a humble, caring person who loved his church, his family, his friends, enjoyed going to McDonalds to eat breakfast and always had a hearty handshake for everyone he met. Kenneth was not only devoted to his Lord and Savior, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of fifty-four years, Margaret Tolbert Estes , his son, Kenneth Michael Estes and his father and mother-in-law, Jesse and Della Tolbert. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Estes, children, Deborah and Larry Whited, Sondra and Mikel Egnor and his son, Heath Garrett Estes, all of Bluefield, West Virginia and his step-children Donna and Mike Martin of Radford, Virginia, Sally and Ray White of Bedford, Virginia and Gary and Camela Gibson of Radford, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Louise and Frank Alderman and his brothers James and Kathy Estes and Richard Estes. As well as his brother-in-law, Raymond and Maxine Tolbert. Kenneth is also survived by his grandchildren, David and Hannah Whited, Brandon (B.J.) and Amanda Whited, Dalton Egnor and girlfriend Chelsea Hicks, and Colton Egnor, and his great-grandchildren, Ryan Stamper, Alyssa Whited, Tristan Whited, Juliana Whited and Matthias Whited. Kenneth was baptized on September 19, 1965 and has been a member of Brushfork Baptist Church since that time. He presently served as Chairman of the Deacons. Kenneth was blessed with many special friends, including, Robert Lester, Donnie Compton, Harry Smith, Jerry Dinger and his church family at Brushfork Baptist Church. Friends may call Monday, January 25, 2016 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, Bluewell, West Virginia, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Wes Lambert officiating. Kenneth will be buried beside his first wife, Margaret Estes, at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, David Whited, B.J. Whited, Dalton Egnor, Colton Egnor, Roger Lacy and Timmy Lacy. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Brushfork Baptist Church, Dave Perdue, Bill Keyes, Doyle Sandifer, Tommy Perdue, Jeff Blankenship and Ken Owens.
