Well done, good and faithful Servant - John B. Riley Sr. 94, of Bluewell, WV joined his heavenly family on January 20, 2016. He was a proud US Navy Veteran serving on LST 358 during World War 2 in the European-African Middle East Campaigns. He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell and a true and faithful servant of God. He was born in Nemours, WV and a lifelong resident of Mercer County. After his service, he started the Spic and Span dry cleaning company in Bluefield, WV. After selling the cleaners he retired from Flowers Baking Company. John loved to tell stories of his life and sing, he never met a stranger. Mr. Riley was preceded in death by his wife Louise Kinder Riley. Sisters, Alma Shawver, Juanita Thompson and three of his children, John Riley Jr. and his wife Mickey, Susan Rye and David Riley, Sr. Left to cherish his memory is Lilly Fox his long time partner, companion and care giver, Son Mark Riley, his wife Kathy, Daughter-in-law Louise Riley, Son-in-law Larry Rye, Sister Elsie Faye Correll and his Grandchildren, Kevin Riley (Trudy), Karen Alvis (David), Denise Settle (Phillip), Michelle Head (Dale), Mark Riley, Jr., Stephanie Osborne (Kelly), and David Riley, Jr., and 7 Great Grand Children.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. James Milam and Rev. Don Dinger officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with grandsons and great grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
