Otis Clifford Thompson

Otis Clifford Thompson, Sr., age 94, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on November 26, 1921 in North Holston, VA, he was a son of Grandison David and Bertha Hardwick Thompson. He had been a resident of Bluefield most of his life and was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II and was a former employee of Bluefield Produce and R&T Electric. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ola Mae Ward Thompson; and his brothers, Curtis, Ernest, Clayton Thompson and sister Nina Bailey. He was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived by his: Children: Carolyn and Elbert Gipson of Bluefield, WV Clifford Thompson, Jr. of Bluefield Kenneth Thompson of Drumore, PA Tommy and Sharon Thompson of Princeton, WV Peggy Irene and Phillip Burton of Bluefield, WV Larry Alan and Sharon Thompson of Bluefield, WV He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), WV with Rev. Darrell Bailey officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will be performing military graveside services. The Thompson family will be receiving friends and relatives on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
