Eugene Howard Bircham

Eugene Howard "Sonny" Bircham, 78, of Yadkinville, NC and formerly of Coaldale, passed away on January 9, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in McDowell County, WV on April 17, 1937, the second son of Hyman and Irene Tabor Bircham. Sonny was a kind and loving man, who finally got to marry his sweetheart in 1994 after waiting nearly 30 years. He retired from Brenner Companies in Kernersville after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Aaron Fulton and Mary Webb Bircham; maternal grandparents Stuart and Mollie Stowers Tabor; parents William Hyman and Irene Tabor Bircham; infant sister Mary Ethel, and brother Roger Lee Bircham. Sonny is survived by his loving wife Betty Auton Farmer Bircham and her devoted sister Vivian Auton Snyder; stepson David Farmer of Richmond, VA; stepson Steven and wife Amy Farmer of Pfafftown; grandchildren Ellie and Ethan Farmer; brother William Hyman Bircham, Jr. of Hamptonville, NC; brother Bradley and wife Diane Brummett Bircham of Yadkinville; sisters Louise Bircham and Shirley Jones of Amelia, V A; and sister-in-law Kathleen Bircham of Clover, SC. Also surviving are all of the special caregivers, including the doctors, nurses, and staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center who served Sonny so well all these years. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 1:30 PM at the Belcher Cemetery in Coaldale with Minister Paul Delida officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Those wishing to attend graveside services are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00PM. Flowers will be accepted or honorary donations can be made to the Kate B.
