Blane Dewey “Red Shirt” Farmer 86, of Horizon Street Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia formerly of Pageton, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, January 07, 2016 at the home of his daughter.
Blane was born on Saturday, August 10, 1929 in White Top, Virginia to the late William Farmer and Della Farmer Walker. Blane had been a resident of Pageton for 37 years; he attended the Voice of Praise Worship Center in Bluewell, West Virginia. Blane was a coal miner and retired from US Steel #14 after 39 years. He was a member of the UMWA Local 9534.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Alma Casey Farmer; three children Linda Harman, Della Whitley and Patricia McClure; two siblings Marie Strangler and June Walker.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia where Ministers NR Taylor and Cecil Watkins will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, West Virginia where Franklin Harman Jr., Earl Farmer, Dwayne Farmer, Arlie Roark, Michael Woolridge, Michael Warren, Zachary Harman and Jason McClure will be serving as pallbearers.
The Farmer family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, January 09, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
