Johnnie William Moore

Johnnie William Moore, 91, of Tazewell, VA, and formerly of Pageton, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at his home. Born on November 21, 1924 in Pageton, he was a son of the late Coley Moore and Carrie Fuller White. He had been a resident of Pageton for most of his life and was of the Methodist faith. He attended Gary High School and played on the Tri-County Baseball League. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp and served during World War II. He was an avid bowler at Mountaineer Lanes in Bluefield. He was a retired coal miner and was a member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Calfee Moore; sisters, Mabel (Pip) Bartley, Florence Nolley, and Betty Graham; and brothers, Melvin “Dickie” Moore, and Bobby Moore. Survivors include: Sons: Michael Moore and wife Margaret of Tazewell, VA Steven Moore and wife Deena of Columbus, OH Grandchildren: Melanie Moore, Melissa Kroll and Ben, Ami Baumgartner and Johnnie Ray Moore Great grandchildren:: Lucas and Logan Kroll; and A.J., Rebecca and Victoria Baumgartner Brother: Jim Moore and Pat of Dunbar Sister: Bonnie Hatfield and Tommy of Bluewell Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Jim Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where military honors will be performed by the VFW Post #9696 of Bluefield, VA and the American Legion Post #14 of Pocahontas, VA. David Kroll, James Kennett, David Moore, Rod Whitt, Mack McKinney and Myron Tilley will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home.
