Virginia Attleen Scott

Virginia Attleen Scott, age 90, of Bluewell, WV went to her Eternal Home on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Roanoke, VA after a sudden illness. Born September 12, 1925 in West Jefferson, NC, Attleen was the daughter of the late R. L. “Fate” and Ella Mae Miller Elliott Hodges. Attleen was a member of Bluewell United Methodist Church since 1948, a basketball player and graduate of Bland High School and McClain’s Business College. She worked at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, Feuchtenberger Bakery, Appalachian Power Company and The Thornton Co. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader, playing golf, watching the Pirates with her grandson, and was a Home Interiors & Gifts displayer for over 30 years. She was a great homemaker, avid gardener who loved to can, and a wonderful cook. Attleen was fun to be with because she never grew up, or old! She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leonard Vincent. Scott, and 13 brothers and sisters. Survivors include 2 daughters, Nancy (Mike) Roten of North Tazewell, VA and Dawn (Kim) Murphy of Bluewell; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Roten of Wendell, NC, Scott (Kristy) Roten of Fuquay Varina, NC, Keenan (Jen Moore) Murphy, and Brennan (Michaela) Murphy of Bluewell; 2 loving great grandsons, Lucas Scott and Levi Granger Roten of Fuquay Varina, NC; and 1 sister, Mildred “Milly” Cepelnik of Elbert, WV, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2015 at Bluewell United Methodist Church, Warden Ave., Bluewell, WV with Rev. Stephen Rector and Rev. Lloyd Day officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV. Pallbearers will be Keenan Murphy, Brennan Murphy, Marty Cepelnik, David Cepelnik, Brandon Cepelnik, Andy Cepelnik, Joe Dennison, and Jen Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Roten, Harry Gregory, Jr. and Jack Foster. Friends may call at the Cravens Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bluewell United Methodist Church, 228 Warden Ave., Bluefield, WV 24701.
