Andrew (Bootie) Bailey

Andrew J. Bailey, Sr. (Bootie) age 88 passed away at his daughter’s home in Morristown, TN on October 7, 2015. Born at home in Goodwill, WV on August 11, 1927, he was the last living heir of Ernest and Sadie Bailey. Andrew lived in the home place of his parents until 2012, before moving to TN with his daughter for care. Andrew served his country in WWII as a first class seaman in the United States Navy. He worked for 33 ½ years as an underground coal miner, where he retired in 1982 from Crane Creek #11 mine located in McComas, WV. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Andrew was preceded in death by the following: his Parents Ernest and Sadie Bailey. Sister Wanda Beggs (companion James Quinsberry); Brothers Clarence Bailey (wife Peggy), Russell Bailey (wife Violet) and Clifford Bailey. Nieces: Wanda Simpson (husband Ira); Great Niece Hope Thomason and Great Nephew Kevin Thomas. Survivors include the following: Daughter Drema Goad (husband David), Son Andrew “Buggs” Bailey (wife Maureen), two Granddaughters Tina Webb and Amanda Bailey and Great Granddaughter Makyla Bailey; friends and caregivers who visited and ministered and those who gave a helping hand while living in the home place. May God give peace and understanding to the surviving family as they continue their journey in memory of the ones who have passed before them. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with rev. David Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Larry Auton Sr., Barry Horton, Wes Bailey, Larry Auton, Jr., Bobby Dillion and Larry Gilmore. Honorary Pallbearer Richard Thomason serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Appalachian Teen Challenge in Princeton, WV.
