James Alan Farmer, 52, of Captain Lane, New Castle, VA, and formerly of Montcalm went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at his home.
Born on September 27, 1963 in Portland, OR, he was a son of Betsy Burris Farmer of Littleton, NC and the late Frank Farmer. He was a retired brick mason with Pistol Blevins in Bluewell. He was a very good worker with anything he attempted. He was a remarkable wood worker and building things such as a dinette set and cradle for his grandson.
He loved watching wildlife and was a loving father, husband father and grandfather.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Kevin Farmer.

Wife: Lisa Mills Farmer of the home
Children: James Roger Farmer and Laura Brianne Farmer, both of Bluewell
Stepchildren: Brandon Baldwin and Saluda Repass, both of New Castle, VA
Grandchildren: Jason, Mathew, Jacob Kinser, Davinci Farmer, Waylon Farmer, Craig Baldwin, James Repass, Caydene and Chasity Baldwin.
Brothers: Danny Farmer and Carol of SC
Frank Farmer and Sherry of SC
Steve Farmer and wife Charmin of OH
Sister: Brenda Farmer of Princeton
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Doug Walls officiating. Burial will follow at the Taylor Cemetery in Coaldale.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
