June D. Walker, age 71, of Grand Central Avenue, Ripley, WV died on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley. Born in Jenkinjones West Virginia on December 21, 1943 passed away on October 3, 2015 at 1pm. He was preceded in death by his father, John Ivory Walker, mother Della Lockey Walker, twin brother Raymond Walker, sister-in-law Juanita Walker, and brother-in-law Harvey McCroskey. He was a coalminer and worked as a mechanic and electrician in the mines for several years. He served as a deacon at Long Point Missionary Baptist Church. He was a quiet man of few words with beautiful blue eyes and a gentle smile. In death he leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years Mary Ann Balcoe Walker, two children Stephanie Thomas and John Walker, and daughter-in-law Esther Walker. His grandchildren include Megan Walker, Jonathan Walker, Daniel Thomas, Teri Walker, and Cari Walker and a great-granddaughter Maliah Shelton all of Ripley. He also leaves behind his sisters Ruby McCroskey of Rocky Gap, Opal White of Pageton and brother Dale Walker of Tennessee as well as several half brothers and half sisters. Viewing will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral home in Bluefield on Monday October 5, 2015. Family will be 5 to 6 pm and public 6 to 8 pm. The service will be held at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell and will be conducted by Bro. Don Farmer Jr. on Tuesday October 6 at 11am. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Pallbearers are Daryl Thomas, Chris Walker, Rod Shrader, Bill Magyar, Jacob Walker, and Jason Walker.
