Girlie Ramsey

Girlie Ramsey, age 93, of Bluefield, West Virginia, made her transition on Friday night, September 18, 2015 at Mercer Nursing & Rehab Center in Bluefield. Girlie was born on May 19, 1922 in Boyd, Alabama to the late Nettie Bell Clements. She grew up in Boyd and was educated in the Boyd public school system. Girlie accepted Christ at an early age. In 1948, she moved to Bluefield, West Virginia where she met and married her husband, June Ramsey. Girlie was well known in the area as a very talented floral designer. Over the years, she worked at several floral shops, retiring from Flowers by Debbie. But she would tell you that her greatest joy and life-changing experience was knowing her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a very active and faithful member of the Greater Mount Zion Pentecostal Church in Bluefield where she served on the Usher Board and loved to sing in the choir. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, June Ramsey; her stepdaughter, Betty Ramsey Harris; three step-grandchildren; and her sister, Mattie Lee. Her survivors include: Her son, Ellis Ramsey of Bluefield; step-grandson, Douglas Harris; numerous cousins; a host of friends and acquaintances who were near and dear to her; and her "ministering angels" at Mercer Nursing & Rehab Center.
