Duane L. Davis

Duane L. Davis, 78, of Fincastle Lane, Bluefield, Virginia died Tuesday September 15, 2015 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia. Born May 10, 1937 in Peterstown, West Virginia, he was the son of John J. Davis and Evelyn Bower Davis. Duane was a graduate of West Virginia Business College and the West Virginia School of Banking. He was Executive Vice-President and Cashier of Commercial Bank of Bluefield, before being hired as Vice-President and Manager of the Bluefield Branch of One Valley Bank of Mercer County. Duane’s involvement with the community includes being a member of the Rotary Club, president of the Bluefield Union Mission, on the Board of Directors of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service and Associate Director for Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce. Being a dedicated Christian, he was a member of Fincastle Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, where he served many offices including treasurer, trustee and most recently as elder. After retirement, Duane and his wife made many friends in the Department 56 Collectors Club and the Farley Family Tours. They enjoyed traveling and were able to tour many countries. He was preceded in death by a sister Ramona Semones and two nephews, Foy and Barry Semones. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Leota Lane Davis, two daughters, Sharon Davis of Tazewell, Virginia, and Sheila Zichettella and husband Joe of Savannah, Georgia, one son Kevin Davis and wife Missy of Orlando, Florida; two brothers John G. Davis of Lufkin, Texas and Gene Davis and wife Sheila of Princeton, West Virginia, one sister Marilyn Hypes of Bluefield, West Virginia, one sister-in-law Nora Lee Broyles of Ballard, West Virginia; two grandsons Joey Zichettella of Savannah, Georgia and Jason Zichettella of Tampa, Florida; two granddaughters Ashlyn and Alexis Davis of Bluefield, Virginia; four step grandchildren, Nick Zichettella of Savannah, Georgia, Molly Zichettella of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Hannah and Jay Keen of Orlando, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Jerry Manning and Craig Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Peterstown Cemetery, Peterstown, West Virginia. Friends may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell on Saturday from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. Serving pallbearers are Joey Zichettella, Jason Zichettella, Ashlyn Davis, Ronald Hypes, Rodney Broyles and Kenny Billings.
