Lee Grat Butt, 90, of Longview Avenue, Bluefield, WV, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on January 24, 1925 in Nemours, he was son of the late Grat W. and Pearlie Odell Phillips Butt. He had been a resident of Bluefield since 1979 and was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Nemours. He was a retired auto-body painter. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in World War II where he received a Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and a Victory Medal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Bertha Riley and Geneva Burton; and brothers, Andrew and Marion Butt. Survivors include: Wife: Mary Crouse Butt of the home Son: Martin L. Butt and Susan of Indianapolis, IN Daughters: Pamela Stanley of Bluefield Connie Messick and Todd of Morgantown, IN Christi Butt of Atlanta, GA Sandra Ellison and Sam of Decatur, AL 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren Brother: Alfred Butt and Sue of Kansas City, MO Sister: Nellie Holtzapple of Shrewsbury, PA Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Dewayne Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted by the US Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call on Friday from 12:00-1:00PM at the funeral home.
