John Richard Delida, 88, of Duck Pond Road (Bluewell), Bluefield, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He had most recently been a resident of the Mercer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the last 5 years.
Born on April 17, 1927 in Elkhorn, he was a son of the late Luke and Mary Semonco Delida. He was a graduate of Elkhorn High School where he was an outstanding basketball player and made honorable mention with the all-state team. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II and had formerly worked for the United Piece Dye Company in Bluefield, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 1 sister.

Several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Father Mark Tyson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2:00-3:00 at the funeral home.
