FAIRFAX, VA---Helen Louise Salpini died peacefully in a care facility in McLean, VA on August 19, 2015 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Panther, WV on August 28, 1926, Louise was a devoted wife of 60 years and mother. She will be remembered for her compassionate nature, keen wit and generous heart. Upon graduation from Concord College, Louise matriculated at Columbia University toward her Masters degree in Education. She taught English at Welch High School in West Virginia before moving with her husband to Northern Virginia. Louise worked as a civilian employee for the Army Material Command, capping her 30 year career as a congressional protocol officer. She was an active member of the Falls Church Presbyterian church serving as an elder, deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Grandchildren: Jessica, Emily, Kirsten, Kate, Colleen and Cara
Brother: Bruce Lowe
Nieces: Kelly, Tina and Roberta Ann
Nephews: Mark and Anthony
Friends will be received on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. A Vigil prayer will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ed Pettus officiating. Burial services will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. The family is accepting online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com.
