Thelma Thompson, 85, of Bluefield, went home to be with her Heavenly Father at the Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Thursday, August 20, 2015 with her daughter, Marion T. Johnson by her side. Thelma was born on February 24, 1930 in Fluvanna Co., VA. She was the daughter of the late Thomas E. & Maggie B. Ross. Thelma graduated from Genoa Senior High School in 1949, in Bluefield, WV. Thelma was a retired Chef at the Community Hospital in Lancaster, PA., and she was a member of the Bethel Church of Lancaster also. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her late son, William R. (Buster) Thompson, her great-great granddaughter, Shavaughn R. Johnson, her brother Thomas E. Ross II and her sister, Jessie O. Ross. Love ones left to cherish her memories includes her daughters, Marion T. Johnson and husband, Rev. Robert L. Johnson Jr., of Bluefield, WV., Deborah Thompson Minnie and husband, Richard Minnie of Lithonia, GA., Mary E. Thompson of Fairfield, CA. Five grandchildren, Robert L. Johnson, III and girlfriend Tiffany Price of Bluefield, WV., Melanie M. Dews and husband Jacob Dews of Glen Burnie, MD and Vivian Palmer and husband Jeff Palmer, of Princeton, WV., and Xavius D. Thompson, formerly known as (Charlie) and wife, Shanique Thompson of Oxonhill, MD and William Thompson of Faifield, CA., Eight great grandchildren, Jamel & Syionna Johnson, Deja, Jaya, and Jayshawn Dews and JJ and Jasmine Palmer and Brownyn S. Thompson. Four sisters, Almeater Rodrique of Loganville, GA., Betty M. Wright of Covingtion, GA., Carolyn Ross Freeman, of Roanoke, VA., and Patricia Buchannon and husband Larry Buchannon of Detroit, MI. One brother, Percy Thompson and wife Edna Thompson of Carson, CA. Special Friends of the family, Shirley Leonard of Lithonia, GA., Desmond Braitwaite of Atlanta, GA., and Queene Augusta of Atlanta, GA., and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluefield with Rev. Robert L. Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Friends may call prior to the services, from 10:00-11:00 at the funeral home. Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
