Leon Robert Garvin, Jr., age 69, of Alvis Road, Princeton, WV died on Wednesday July 22, 2015 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born on September 26, 1945 in Abilene, Texas, he was a son of the late Leon Robert Garvin, Sr. and Lessie Blackerby Garvin. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served in the US Navy. He had worked as an engineer and tester for the Space Program. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and the Mercer County Honor Guard and Veterans Chapter 628.
He loved old classic cars, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and hanging out with his fellow veterans at his chapter. In addition to his parents, he was precede in death by 3 brothers, Tommy, Harry and Carroll Garvin.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, 3431 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, WV (Bluewell) with Rev. Marvin Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Honors. Serving as pallbearers will be James Beavers, James White, Garland Watson, Dallas Hubbard, Ed Taylor, Kevin Blankenship, Jerry Whitt, Bruce Bishop and Rod Mayberry. Friends may call on Saturday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
