William T. “Tommy” Vernon, Jr., age 77, of Valley Dale Street, Bluefield, VA died on Monday, June 29, 2015 at his home.
Born on December 5, 1937 in Marion, VA, he was a son of the late William T. Vernon, Sr. and Essie Anderson Vernon. He was a graduate of Wytheville Community College and was retired from the US Air Force as a Tech Sergeant with 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of VFW Post #9696 in Bluefield, VA. He was also a member of the AF & AM Masonic Lodge 31 in Marion, VA. He was of the Protestant Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Eleanor “Bobbie” Walton, Dolly Jean Woodward, Maxine Kidd and Carolyn Williams.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA where military graveside honors will be performed by the Pulaski, Virginia VFW #1184 and the National Guard. Friends may call on Thursday from 12:30 – 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV
