Doris J. Mathis

Doris J. Bradley Mathis, age 82, of Wedgewood Avenue, Princeton, WV died on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on February 7, 1933 in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Edna Cantrell Bradley. She resided in McDowell County until 1983 when she moved to Princeton. She was a graduate of Gary High School and later worked in retail management and banking until her retirement. She was of the Methodist Faith and was a lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She had a deep love for family and friends. She loved to travel to new places (Hawaii was her favorite) and she was an avid reader all of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Mathis, who was a Deputy Sheriff in McDowell County for many years; her beloved daughter Rhonda Kay; and a brother, Kenneth Bradley. Survivors include: Son: Ronnie Mark Mathis and companion Kelly Sharp of Princeton, WV Daughter: Patricia Lynn and husband Antonio of Charlotte, NC Granddaughters: Megan Danielle of Charlotte, NC and Makenzi Caroline Mathis of Arizona A much loved great-grandson: Jace Mosley of Charlotte, NC Great-Granddaughter: Nevash Ivey of Charlotte, NC Sisters: Helen Lambert of Myrtle Beach, SC Pat Gerfin of Wise, VA Donna Schoenberger of Lancaster, PA Brothers: Roger Bradley and wife Donna of Landisville, PA Bob Bradley and wife Sherry of Lancaster, PA She was also survived by many nieces and nephews In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated and there will be no public services. A private family burial of the cremains will be held at a later date.
