Edward Francis “Shog” Shrader, Sr., age 87, of Pinnacle Lake Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Mercer Nursing and Rehab Center in Bluefield.
Born on May 20, 1928 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Doc and Minnie Ayers Shrader. He had been a lifelong resident of Mercer County and was a retired groundskeeper for Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. He also enjoyed and formerly worked in carpentry, cutting wood and trading horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helena Howard Shrader; a daughter, Deborah Tibbs; two sons, Benny Ray Shrader and Jackie Lee Shrader; a grandson, Harley Shrader; 5 sisters and 4 brothers. He was the last surviving sibling of his family.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Dewayne Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Eric Shrader, Eddie Shrader, Jack Quesenberry, Randy Compton, John Bagar and Thomas Begar serving as pallbearers C.J. Casey and David Ruble serving as honorary pallbeaers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
