Herman Lawrence Coe

It is with great sadness that the family of Herman Lawrence Coe announces his passing on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the age of 88 years. He was a resident of Conklintown, WV for all of his life. He was born April 27, 1927 in Boissevain, VA to the late James and Reba Coe. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He graduated from Concord University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He was a school teacher in the McDowell County, West Virginia school system for many years and a principal at Leckie Elementary for seventeen years. He later taught in the Tazewell County, Virginia school system where he retired. He was preceded in death by his brother Eulas Coe; sister Addis Spangler; and daughter, Patricia Johnson. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters and spouse, Sue Cox of Bland, VA, Reverend Don Jr. and Vivian Farmer of Anawalt, WV; former spouse Shirley Williams Blush of Anawalt, WV; daughter and spouse, Timothy and Marjorie (Libby) Corner of Anawalt, WV; grandchildren, spouses and great-grandchildren, Chad and Melissa McCoy and Joslyn DeWeese of Elkins WV, Timothy Jr., Melissa, Kirsten, Alyssa, and Brooklyn Corner of Bluefield, WV, Tammy and Rileigh Corner of Anawalt, WV, James, Stephanie, McKenzie, and McKailyn Corner of Bluefield, VA, and Dustin, Elizabeth, Beverly, Makayla, and Dokota Garrett of Hickory, NC.; special friend and neighbor, Lawrence Head; caregiver, Mickey Brewster. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Long Point Missionary Baptist Church in Spencer Curve, WV. Reverends Don Farmer, Jr. and Donald Farmer, III will be officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell, WV. Visitation will begin on Sunday, June 7, 2015 after 6:00 p.m. at Long Point Missionary Baptist Church in Spencer Curve, WV. The family will be there until 8:00 p.m. to greet relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Timothy Corner, Timothy Corner, Jr., James Corner, Chad McCoy and Dustin Garrett.
