Wayland Steven Gills

Wayland Steven Gills, 60, of New Hope Road, Hinton and formerly of Duhring, WV passed away on Thursday May 21, 2015 at his home. Born October 10, 1954 in Bluefield he was the son of the late Randolph Dayton and Katherine Leona Gills. Wayland was a continuous mine operator in the coal industry, attended the Church of Christ in Duhring and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Jennifer Catherine Scott and husband Clayton of Hinton; son Michael Shawn Gills of Columbus ,OH; seven grandchildren, Catherine, Amelia, and Iris Scott of Hinton and Brittany, Austin, and Madison Gills of Columbus, OH; one brother, Randall Gills and wife Angela of Bluefield; a sister Mary Conner and husband Doug of Sandlick. Memorial services will be held for Mr. Gills Tuesday May 26, 2015 at 2:30 P.M. at the Cravens –Shires Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday May 26, 2015 from 1:30 until time of service. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, 3431 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, WV 24701 is in charge of arrangements.
