John Edgar Levitt, Jr.

John Edgar Levitt, Jr., 83, of Fellowship Street (Bluewell), Bluefield, WV, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on August 22, 1931 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late John Edgar Levitt, Sr. and Lorna Doone Levitt. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell and had been a resident of Bluefield his entire life. He was a graduate of Beaver High School and McClain’s Business College. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in Korea. He formerly worked for National Electric Coil as a coil-winder, and Pemco, and Pocahontas Welding as a purchasing agent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edgar Wayne Levitt. Survivors include: Wife: Viola Morrison Levitt of the home Faithful Dog: Jake Adopted Daughter: Deborah Eller of Bluefield, VA 2 grandchildren: Shannon Nolan and Britnie Carpenter 5 great grandchildren: Noah and Abigail Nolan, Juile, Angela and Kassidy Carpenter. 5 nieces: Theda Dudley, Serena Briley, Verona Steward, Brenda Blizzard, Rita Blackwell Sister in law: Joann Morlan Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 8:00PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. James Milam officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11:00 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Jerry Booth, Tim Moody, Ben Meador, Scott Carpenter, Billy Witt, and Johnny O’Quinn will serve as pallbearers. Robert Shelley and David Stevens will serve as honorary pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell on Thursday at 10:30 AM.
