James Edward (Jimmy) Lowman, 90, of Bluewell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born on December 8, 1924 in Betsy Layne, KY, he was the last surviving son of the late Roger and Florence Belcher Lowman. He was a retired conductor from Norfolk & Western Railways with 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Naval Air Force during World War II and in the US Air Force from 1951-1955. Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and spending time with his family and his best buddy, Hunter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Ralph and Harold Lowman; and three sisters, Helen Hayes, Magdaline Taylor, and Vivian Spencer.
He is survived by:
Wife of 58 years: Mary Penas Lowman of the home
Daughter: Mary Kathryn Howard and husband Tracy of Hampton, VA
A host of nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 1:00PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Deacon Don Hammond officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Roger Lowman, Frankie Ray Lowman, Josh Lowman, Anthony French, Jose Garcia, Steve Kidd, Jimmy Brockel, and Ben Auton serving as pallbearers. The Seymour Johnson AFB Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
