Mary Lillian Jennings

Mary Lillian Patrick Jennings, age 93, of Dogwood Village Nursing Home in Orange, VA died on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. Born in Coopers, WV, she was a daughter of the late Charles G. and Nannie E. Fowler Patrick. She was the fourth of eight children. She was married on December 7, 1942 to Willie R. “Bill” Jennings. She had had resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and William Eugene Davis of Crawford Lane in Gordonsville, VA for 17 years and a resident of North Tazewell for 9 years prior to that with them. She was known as “Mom”, “Mother Mary”, “Mother-in-Law”, “Grandma”, “Sister”, “ Aunt Mary” and “Granny”. She had worked at the Radford Arsenal in her younger days. She loved the simple things in life such as eating out, shopping, birds, family and friends. She loved to crochet doylies and did so up until recently. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Ramsey Jennings; daughter, Una Mae Jennings Hopewell Davis; son-in-law, Robert Lee Davis; grandson, Robert Howard Hopewell, III; brothers, Jessie Wilson Patrick, Henry James Patrick and Richard William Patrick; sisters, Elsie Elizabeth Patrick Hall and Ruth Ellen Patrick. Survivors: Son: Billy Dean Jennings of Christiansburg, VA Daughter: Bonnie Davis and husband William Eugene Davis Sr. of Gordonsville, VA Sisters: Lillie Virginia Patrick Wilson of Peterstown, WV Helen Charlotte Patrick Beavers of Pinnacle View Road, Bluefield, WV Grandchildren: Keith A. Jennings and wife Maria of Jacksonville, FL William E. Davis, Jr. and wife Christina of Mt. Track Road, Orange, VA Angie F. Davis Fritz and husband Benji of Bluefield, VA Linda F. Jennings Crank of Welch, WV Danielle L. Jennings of Blacksburg, VA Great-Grandchildren: Brandon K. Jennings, Konner J. Coffey, and Isabella M. Coffey of Jacksonville, FL; Caleb J. Fritz, Justin L. Fritz, and Hannah B. Fritz of Bluefield, VA; and William Crank and Ryan Crank of Welch, WV. Best Friends: Deloris Lacy (who was like a daughter) and Pat and Earl Baker of Gordonsville, VA Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home
