Maggie E. Hawley, 78, Lorton Lick Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Maples Nursing Home in Bluefield. Born on February 25, 1937 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Poynter and Cholia LaRue Poynter. She had been a resident of Bluewell for 50 years and was a retired cook. Mrs. Hawley was also active with the Girl Scouts, P.T.A., and taught Head Start. In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Fulford; a sister, Wedith Hopkins and a brother, Charles Poynter. Survivors include: Special friend: Harold Witt of Bluefield 3 daughters: Deanna Roe and John of Marion, VA Deborah Nash and Bill of King, NC Diana Primmer of Bluewell Brother: Walter Poynter and Barbara of Bluefield Seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Teddy Warden officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluefield. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:30-1:00 PM at the funeral home.
