Walter Lee Lockhart, Sr., 86, of Laurel Drive, Gary, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born on March 21, 1929 in White Sulphur Springs, WV, he was a son of Wallace Lockhart and Mildred Kathleen Loomis Lockhart. He was a retired coal miner for US Steel #2 Mines with 42 years, retired UMWA member and president of the Black Lung Association of Gary, WV. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II and Korea.
He was preceded in death by: his devoted wife, Rosie Marie Peak Lockhart; sons, William Larry Lockhart and Willie Lane Lockhart; brothers, Garnett, Leslie, Albert, James, Ronald, Donald and Willie Lockhart; and sisters, Irene Lilly and Mildred Rose; and a son in law, Robert Clemins.
He is survived by:

Wallace Leslie Lockhart and wife Mary Dawn of Welch, WV
Daughters: Donna Myers and husband Andy of Palatka, Florida
Helen Clemins of Gary, WV

Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Sister: Ann (David) Bergeron – Gloucester, VA
Brother: Merle (Mary) Lockhart – Warren, NJ
Aunt Madora Marchal and numerous sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:00AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. David Bergeron officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with grandsons and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home prior to the service.
