Sandra Shumate Lares, 65, of Glenwood Ave. Shelby, NC formerly of Crumpler, WV. Passed away on Monday, April 06, 2015 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, NC. Sandra was born on April 18, 1949 in Newport, Rhode Island to the late Estel and Margaret Janet Smith Shumate. She was a graduate of Northfork High School. Sandra was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, West Virginia and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Powhatan, WV. She had been a resident of Shelby since 2007. Survivors Include: Companion: Michael Small of Shelby, North Carolina Two Brothers: Michael D. Shumate and wife Madonna of Bluefield, West Virginia Richard Shumate of Bluefield, West Virginia Three Sisters: Barbara Spolatz of Bluefield, West Virginia Patricia Smith of Bluefield, West Virginia Deborah Shumate of Bluefield, West Virginia A host of nieces and nephews Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), WV. Burial will be a Roselawn Memorial Garden in Princeton, West Virginia. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home
