James E. Moore, Sr.

James E. “Peanut” Moore, Sr., age 73 of Pocahontas, VA, formerly of Green Valley (Ceres Hollow) went to be with the LORD on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on April 14, 1941, in Boissevain, VA, he was a son of the late John Henry Moore, Sr. and Cleavie Jane Phipps Moore. He was the owner and operator of Moore’s Garage until 2004 when he retired. He had also been a route delivery driver for companies over the years, 1959 til 1980, with companies such as Elkhorn Valley, Valley Bell Dairy, Pepsi Cola Bottling and Dr. Pepper. He was a member of Boissevain Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Edwards, Maxine Stephenson, Audrey Hoops and Dorothy Moore at birth; and a special uncle, Mack Phipps. Survivors include: Wife of 55 years: Thelma McLaughlin Moore of the home Sons: James “Cricket” Moore and wife Karen of Bluewell, WV John Moore and wife Gina of Sandlick, WV Daughters: Amanda Wade and husband Don of North Tazewell, VA Trish Wimmer and husband Mark of Princeton, WV Becky Tiller and husband Donald of Princeton, WV Tracy Crowe and husband Brian of Princeton, WV Brothers: John Moore of Oakvale, WV Roger Moore of High Point, NC Herbert Moore of Hickory, NC Jerry Moore of Princeton, WV Sisters: Dolly Wheeler of Cleveland, OH Judy Neal of Princeton, WV Grandchildren: Matthew Moore, Christopher Moore, Justin, Moore, Kayla Moore, Ryan Wade, Courtney Wade, Tiffani Ramos, Brandi Wimmer, Levi Wimmer, Jeremy Moore, and Braxton Crowe 11 great-grandchildren Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Burial will follow at the Family’s Cemetery in Boissevain, VA where his grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Christian Action Center in Pocahontas, VA or the Boissevain Baptist Church.
