Betty Jean Johnson Murphy, 77, of Brushfork, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on July 29, 1937 in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Elsvan Johnson, Sr., and Albenia Crigger Johnson. She had been a resident of Bluefield for most of her life and attended the Fairview Christian Church. She was a retired coil winder for National Coil, R&T Electric and Smith Services. She had also formerly worked part time for Belk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jackie Murphy; and 2 sisters: Sheila Johnson and Shelby Weimerskirch; and 2 brothers, Charles and Richard Johnson. Survivors include: Daughters: Sherry Roach and Homer of Bluefield Donna Murphy of Wytheville, VA Sisters: Mae and Wayne Farmer of Itman, WV Cecil and Jim Sheaves of Camanche, Iowa Barbara Woods of Brushfork, WV Ruth and Frank Belcher of Welch, WV Ethel and Dale Davis of Brushfork, WV Rebecca Johnson and Avery Toohey of Glenwood, WV Linda Johnson of Brushfork, WV Brenda Johnson of Brushfork, WV One Brother: Elsvan Jr and Barbara Johnson of Kellysville, WV Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Friday from 12:00-1:00PM at the funeral home.
