Ual J. Thompson, 89, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
Ual was born on September 16, 1925 in Brushfork, he was a son of the late Charles and Ester Francisco Thompson. He was a member of the Brushfork United Methodist Church. He was the former owner, along with his brother Glen, of the Thompson Meat Packing Plant. He was a prominent famer and cattleman and worked until August 2014. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army from 1943-46 in the railroad Division. His Batallion, #723, was the first to enter Germany in 1945.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Howell, Glen, and Carl Thompson.
He leaves behind many family and friends who he loved very much, including:

Son: Ual Richard Thompson and wife Pamela Bryant Thompson of Bluefield
Daughter: Pamela Thompson White of Falls Mills
Sister: Euna Thompson Barrett of Bluefield
Brother: Malcolm Thompson of Statesville, NC
6 grandchildren whom he loved with all of his heart: Sherri Hayes, Jenny Thompson, Stephanie McKinney, Angela Groseclose, Tara Thompson, and Robin Thompson.
He was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren: Brittany, Kayla, Christopher, Laken, Devonte, Brianna, Kaeden, Teddi, McKayla, and Christian

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Steve Rector and Rev. D. Homer Stewart officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Christopher Martin, John Murray, Brian McKinney, Jeff Groseclose, Dave Martin, Eric Poletti, David Hicks, and Jackie Graham serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Saturday from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
