Jimmy Carl Halsey ,83, of Mim Lane Bluefield, West Virginia passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at his home surrounded by family.
Born January 29, 1931 in Wyoming County, West Virginia he was the son of the late General Lee and Alice Myers Halsey. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is also preceded in death by one son, Ricky Carl Halsey. Jimmy was a man of faith. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War where he was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery and service. He was employed for forty years at Coppingers as a machinist. Jimmy enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory and his devoted loving wife of 60 years, Betty Lou Trump Halsey of the home. Brother, Al Halsey of Pineville, West Virginia, sisters, June Baldwin of Nimitz, West Virginia and Phyllis Hightower of Roanoke, Virginia. Children; Gary Halsey of Bluefield, West Virginia, Michael Halsey and wife Rhonda of Troutville, Virginia, James Halsey of Roanoke, Virginia, Stephanie Cook of Narrows, Virginia and Barry Halsey of Bluefield, Virginia. Jimmy also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Christopher Graham, Ashleigh Graham-Smith, Madison Halsey, Megan Wall, Eric Halsey, Brittany Huffman and Haley Halsey. In addition to his grandchildren, he also leaves behind seven great grandchildren: London Graham, Lilian Smith, Norah Kate Smith, Breanna Halsey, Jayden Wall, Kayden Wall and Bentley Wall.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Gene Sizemore officiating the service. Committal service will follow on Friday, January 02, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell, West Virginia where friends and family.
