Rev. James Edward Jones, 82, of Sandlick Road, Bluefield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 22, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on October 1, 1932 in Beason to the late Emitt and Lulie Huffman Jones. He was the last surviving member of his family. He was a retired pastor and was the former pastor of the Montcalm Family Worship Center. He was a retired route manager for Pepsi-Cola and was a veteran of the US Navy and served in the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Pigg Jones; son, Sgt. John A. Jones; son in law, Dennis (Danny) Thomason; brothers, Edgar, Ambrose, Grover and Tom Jones; Sisters, Mary Thorne, Thelma Melvin, and Helen Fawland. Left to cherish his memory include: Sons: James (Pedo) Jones and Cornelia of Rock Larry (Joe) Jones and Linda of Hilderbran, NC Daughter: Mardella Thomason of Sandlick Special friend: Betty Wyatt whom he thought of as a daughter Special Hospice caregiver, Sherry Lusk Sisters in law: Jean Hawks, Lois Jones, and Morgan Thomason Grandchildren: Tracy Beggs, Heather Brendle, Crystal Thomason, Dennis Thomason, Scotty Jones, Danielle Hicks, Ethan Stirewalt, Kyleigh Jones, Nicholas Stirewalt, and Joleigh Jones. Great grandchildren: Austin Pennington, Morgan Thomason, Alyssa Thomason, Gabby Beggs, Markus Thomason, Grayson Thomason, Julie Thomason, Addison Thomason, Joseph Hicks and Dylan Thomason. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Dewayne Houk officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the Bluefield Police Dept. serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
