Naomi Bowman

Naomi K. Sargent Bowman, 85 of Wheeling, WV formerly of Bluefield, WV died on Monday December 15, 2014 in Liza’s Place, Wheeling, WV. She was born in McComas, WV on May 14, 1929 the daughter of the late Henry and Edith Barger Sargent. A graduate of Bramwell High School and Concord University, Naomi taught at Bramwell Elementary School for 33 years. Her dedication, love and compassion for her students will long be remembered. She was a member of Maple View Church of Christ where she attended the DMA. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Sorority, the Bluewell Womans Club, St Lukes Senior Friends and a lifetime member of the WV and Mercer County Association of Retired School Employees. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Howard (Tom) Bowman; a sister, Barbara Parcell and a brother, John Sargent. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Dr. David A. Bowman and his wife, Patti of Wheeling, WV; two precious grandchildren, David A. Bowman, II of Riverside, CA and Katie Bowman Durkalski, her husband, Nick and their son, Brooks Howard Durkalski of Bay Village, OH; two brothers, Hershal Sargent and his wife, Shirley of Columbus, OH and Franklin Sargent of Bluefield, WV; a sister, Elizabeth Davis of Mebane, NC; a sister in law, Annita Sargent of Bluewell, WV and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday December 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Princeton. Friends may call on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 4-8 P M at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
